Missouri Food Code

Christian County Food Order

Christian County Health Department is now offering an on-line food handler training course. With this new option available, all food handlers and managers working in Christian County can utilize this convenient online training. Individuals who are interested in learning about food safety can participate also.

Water Testing for Wells

Our certified laboratory offers water testing for the presence or absence of bacteria for a fee of $10.00. This test is collected in a bottle purchased prior to collecting the sample, and brought to our office Monday through Thursday. The results of this bacterial test will be available the next business day at 4:00 p.m.

Have your private well tested by our environmental staff. The New Well Series is a chemical analysis performed by the MO Department of Health Laboratory that identifies the levels for: pH, nitrate/nitrogen, chloride, sulfate, fluoride, iron, manganese and lead. this test can be helpful for private well users in determining a baseline for drinking water quality. In addition to the New Well Series CCHD will collect a bacterial sample to be analyized in our certified laboratory. The fee for this service is $35.00.

 

Stream Testing

In collaboration with the Missouri Department of Conservation, recreational water testing is done weekly from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Children fishing in a streamThis is also done monthly in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. We test nine public access points on waterways county-wide. If a waterway tests higher than the allowable limit, we will post for no whole body contact, which means people should not immerse themselves in the water.

Wastewater

In 1992 the Christian County Health Department adopted a county wide onsite wastewater ordinance along withbackhoe
construction standards.  This was done under the authority of Section 193.300, RSMo 1986.
It is the goal of the Christian County Health Department to protect our natural resources and the public health.  We are confident that by following the rules and regulations administered by the Christian County Health Department we will achieve this goal.

Installer Training

Our office offers training for individuals that are licensed with the State of Missouri wanting to install wastewater systems in Christian County. These classes are offered several times during the year. The fee for this training is $50.00. Please call our office for the dates of classes offered.
